Niagara Falls collision leaves motorcyclist with critical injuries

Driver, passenger of car required extrication but suffered only minor injuries

On May 5, 2024 at 3:43 p.m., 2 District (Niagara Falls / Niagara on the Lake) uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) and emergency service personnel responded to a serious motor vehicle collision in the City of Niagara Falls.

Officers arrived on scene at Lundy’s Lane and Beechwood Road and found a green Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R motorcycle and a white Toyota Corolla car had collided. The 28-year-old male driver of the motorcycle was transported to a local hospital before being air lifted to an out-of-town trauma centre with life-threatening / critical injuries.

The 31-year-old female driver of the Toyota and her 11-year-old female passenger needed to be extricated from the car by Niagara Falls Fire Service. The 31-year-old female was treated by Niagara Emergency Medical Services paramedics and transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. The 11-year-old passenger was also treated by Niagara Emergency Medical Services at the scene with minor injuries.

Damage to the motorcycle is believed to be $13,000. The Toyota also sustained $10,000 damage.

Roads were closed in the area as a result of the collision investigation. Roads were reopened at approximately 12 a.m.

The collision resulted in hydro wires being knocked down and requiring repair.

Detectives from the NRPS Collision Reconstruction Unit have been assigned to the investigation. They are being assisted by the NRPS Forensic Services Unit.  The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
