A Cinderella, rags to riches story took place this year for the Pelham Royals rookie baseball team.

The group of junior players posted a losing record in regular season as they learned how to play the game and work together as a team. That teamwork was brought all together for the playoffs to tie for second place and qualify for the Niagara Interlock Division Championship this past weekend.

The Royals won their first two games on Saturday to play the final on Sunday for the Division title where they took on St. Catharines, eventually losing. However, second place in all of Niagara remains a stellar accomplishment which they'll look to build on next season.

Many thanks to Star Tile, the team sponsor, and the Pelham Minor Baseball Association for making this year possible. Team members include: Aaron Bourdages, Ryan Culig, Cameron Wells, Grace Dillon, Ryan Jensen, Lucas Slingerland, Aidan Gallager, Alex Sawchuck, Grace Frost, Hailey Whitely, Isaac Slingerland, William Horton, Julian Rubino and Zachary Whitely.
