Pelham Fire Department will receive the keys for the new Pelham Fire Station No. 3 this week.

Fire Chief Bob Lymburner outlined progress on the station for town council Monday.

The $1.4 million station on Cream Street replaces a temporary station around the corner on Sixteen Road.

The small leased building has been used by the volunteer Short Hills Fire and Rescue for 13 years.

The new station will accommodate four vehicles, washrooms, training room and kitchen for community events.

The facility includes a large parking area and 33,000 gallon cistern for water storage.

The fire department will hold an open house at the new station on Saturday, Oct. 18, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

It will include a tour of the building, barbecue, children’s activities, and formal opening with speeches at noon.
