A day of pampering for the benefit of Women’s Place went smoothly for the Fonthill and District Kinettes Saturday.

A steady flow of visitors to Pamper Me Sweet came through to sample pedicure, massage, waxing, reflexology, reiki and Indian head massage services by local professionals.

They shopped at the tables of two dozen vendors.

After a slow start in the morning, the pace picked up through the afternoon.

A threatened snow storm held off to the relief of organizers Kinettes Betty Twomey and Lola Bronn.

“The parking lot is full, what more can you ask,” said Bronn.

Twomey praised the Fonthill United Church for accommodating the event with vendors and services spread through the halls and rooms of building.

Registered massage therapist Jane Beaulieu said the 10-minute sessions offer by professionals through the day gave customers opportunities to test different relaxation methods. They could follow them up later with more formal appointments.

“It’s so relaxing,” said Kinette Mary Stanley-Tirone after a chair massage. “It’s awesome.”

The day included a tea room with tea-leaf and tarot card readings.

Proceeds from this first major event by the new Kinette club will go to Women’s Place of South Niagara, which serves Pelham, Welland and neighbouring municipalities.

Pamper Me Sweet could become an annual event.
