With the new community centre and its many facilities set to open this June, the current Pelham Arena on Haist Street will become surplus to needs.
The Town has aggressively pushed forward with a development plan that would see mixed residential construction on the site. Various options, differing in little more than type of housing and density, have been presented during public "consultation" sessions. Apparently not on the table is the option to re-purpose the old arena for new uses, or to tear it down and develop the space as a larger park.
