In our February 6 issue, the Voice carried an interview with Interim CAO and Treasurer Teresa Quinlin, in which she acknowledged that the Town of Pelham requires an infusion of cash to meet its loan obligations related to building the new community centre.

One source of income would be the sale of the old Pelham arena on Haist Street, which could bring in as much a $3 million dollars to Town coffers. Residential development on the site would also generate permanent property tax income to the Town.

Retaining the property as a public park, on the other hand, could cost a minimum of $1 million dollars to demolish the old arena and remediate the soil for contaminants, money Quinlin says the Town doesn't have.

What do you think?  Sell it, or keep it?  Look for results in an upcoming issue of the Voice.
