NEWS RELEASE
WELLAND ANNUAL EASTER EGG HUNT
***************

For 24 years, Steve Dube, VP of the Welland Volunteer Firefighter Club, coordinated the Welland Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Merritt Island. The event was always a huge success, with thousands of people attending each year. In 2020, the event was cancelled due to the pandemic and since then faced several logistical challenges to revive. This year, this annual Easter Egg Hunt is back and will be grander than ever being the 25th Anniversary.

Introducing the new Merrittville Speedway Annual Easter Egg Hunt, presented by Steve & Justin (Dube Realtors) and Don & Lorraine Spiece (Owners of Merrittville Speedway). The event is taking place at Merrittville Speedway on Saturday, March 30, from 10am to 2pm.

It is FREE ADMISSION and FREE PARKING on site for families within the Niagara Region and beyond. The main attraction will be four categories of age-specific hunts.

  • 1-5 years-old hunt at 10am,

  • 6-10 years-old hunt at 11am

  • 11-15 years-old at noon

  • Family Hunt at 1pm.

Everyone is a winner and gets a prize. In addition to the various hunts, there will be a Fun Zone with attractions and activities for the entire family including race cars, fire trucks, police cruiser, inflatables, carnival games, fish ponds, face painting, and so much more.

There’s also a colouring contest that can be downloaded in advance from the website www.easteregghunt.ca or available at the event. Fifteen lucky winners will share cash prizes valued at $500.

Hosts Don and Lorraine Spiece, Merrittville Speedway owners, have a history of giving back to the community through various events and giving thousands of Christmas gifts to children over the years. “We see this as another opportunity to celebrate family fun and give back to the Niagara Region Community, by providing a free Easter event,” said Lorraine Spiece.

Donations will be collected on site for Niagara Nutritional Partners, a local non-profit organization providing school lunches/snacks to over 201 schools within the Niagara Region.

There will be plenty of Easter Egg Hunts around the Niagara Region, but this inaugural annual event promises to be FREE fun entertainment for all ages. Hop on down to Merrittville Speedway on March 30. For more information, visit www.easteregghunt.ca
